Type Directors Club (TDC) 67 Call for Entires Campaign

Type Directors Club is the world’s leading global typographic organization. Each year, it hosts an international design competition celebrating the World’s Best Typography, judged by an international jury composed of some of the most respected voices in graphic design and type.

The 2020 Type Directors Club 67 campaign is rooted in a simple idea: connection. The way we connect with our work, with the work of others we admire, with typography itself, and most importantly, with one another.

To express this idea, I developed a flexible system alongside a custom geometric sans serif typeface whose letterforms physically embrace, overlap, and interlock in unexpected ways. Some connections feel natural and intuitive, while others are slightly awkward or uncomfortable. Much like real relationships, the system acknowledges that connection is not always seamless, but it is always human.
